Trust & safety
Good connections start with good judgment.
HiÓja helps people discover one another. These habits help everyone hire, rent, buy, sell and run errands more safely.
Check the details
Read the full listing, review the profile, compare prices and ask questions about anything unclear.
Agree before you act
Confirm the price, scope, timing, delivery, returns and what happens if plans change.
Protect yourself
Keep records, meet safely, inspect items and never share passwords, codes or unnecessary personal data.
Before you connect
- Review the listing description, photos, price, location and profile history.
- Be cautious when a price is far below comparable offers or the story keeps changing.
- Ask for the information you need, but do not request or share sensitive identity or financial details.
- For professional work, write down the expected result, deadline and total cost.
Payments, rentals and exchanges
- Do not send money simply to prove that you are serious.
- Inspect an item before accepting it and document its condition before and after a rental.
- Use traceable payment methods and keep receipts or written confirmation.
- Never share one-time passwords, card PINs, account passwords or remote-access codes.
- For high-value exchanges, choose a public location and bring someone you trust.
Watch for pressure and impersonation
Meetings and in-person work
- Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to return.
- Meet in a well-lit public place when the exchange does not require access to a home or worksite.
- For home services, confirm who is arriving and keep valuables and private documents secure.
- Leave immediately if the person, place or situation differs materially from what was agreed.
Respectful marketplace conduct
HiÓja is for lawful, honest and respectful activity. Misrepresentation, harassment, discrimination, threats, exploitation, stolen goods, prohibited items and attempts to defraud others are not acceptable.
Listings should be accurate, images should represent what is offered, and reviews should reflect genuine experiences.
If something goes wrong
- End the conversation or transaction if it is safe to do so.
- Preserve the listing, profile, messages, receipts and relevant screenshots.
- Contact your payment provider promptly if money may be at risk.
- Contact local emergency services or law enforcement when there is immediate danger or suspected crime.
